In the classical Egyptian calendar, the months are segregated into three sub sections called decades each with ten different days.

There is some controversy whether there was slavery at all in ancient Egypt. Egyptian slavery as far as we can determine, was quite different from those of Greece, Rome or the southern states of the USA. Hem generally translated as ‘slave’ and originally meaning body, was seemingly a person with lessened rights dedicated to a certain task such as the service of a god and or the royal administration. They were either prisoners of war or traded by slave merchants.

The Ancient Egyptians held education in high regard. However, there were only a limited number of schools which were attended by royalty and the wealthy or those whose careers would be that of a priest. These schools were only attended by boys, and the ordinary people were educated at home. Can you believe girls were given education by their mothers, which were dictated by the tasks of their particular social standing?

Ancient Egyptians were hard workers, but they also had lots of playtime for board games and toys. The game snake was one of the first Ancient Egyptian games ever found. The stone board represented a snake coiled with its head in the centre. The winner was the first person who moved their piece from the snake’s tail to its head in the centre. The pieces were often carved with an early Ancient Egyptian pharaoh name. Also, a game like Senet was played mostly by adults and wealthy people. Mancala was probably played more by poor families because they could just dig holes in the earth and use stones as game pieces. Wooden dolls or animals were more expensive.
